Painting the Boot
Hello all for some people who are not familiar with the term "Boot" this is the painted on line above the waterline usually it is a contrasting color between the bottom paint and hullside paint here in the photos you can see the first coat of gloss white boot paint going on our green hull. With the Black Bottom paint the white boot i think a Black rail will look nice with the Jade Green Hull. Kinda a nice commercial looking skiff. When i arrived at the shop tonite i planned on taping the boot off flipping and then painting but ran out of steam and said will flip tomorrow and just paint the boot tonite. Usually I Tape the boot flip the boat and then paint that way the paint runs down onto bottom paint that will get touched up and not on the hull but i did ok and had no spatter or runs. Well hope you are enjoying this build will be moving it out as soon as it gets flipped have to start another 22 right away.

Hey the 22 is looking good.
ReplyDeleteAre the bottom strakes for strength or just added lateral stability?
What is the maximum HP recommended?
Thanks, samD
Mainly for lateral stability at higher speeds but strength also is a side factor. I would say that a 90 would be about max depending on weight
ReplyDeleteGreat tip on flipping the boat and the dripping paint.
