Painting the Boot

Hello all for some people who are not familiar with the term "Boot" this is the painted on line above the waterline usually it is a contrasting color between the bottom paint and hullside paint here in the photos you can see the first coat of  gloss white boot paint going on our green hull. With the Black Bottom paint the white boot i think a Black rail will look nice with the Jade Green Hull. Kinda a nice commercial looking skiff. When i arrived at the shop tonite i planned on taping the boot off flipping and then painting but ran out of steam and said will flip tomorrow and just paint the boot tonite. Usually I Tape the boot flip the boat and then paint that way the paint runs down onto bottom paint that will get touched up and not on the hull but i did ok and had no spatter or runs. Well hope you are enjoying this build will be moving it out as soon as it gets flipped have to start another 22 right away.

Paint The 22 Skiff Final Coat

Here is the second coat i let the 1st coat set up overnight 12 hrs or maybe more, Scuff with scotchbrite pad red color, Wipe down dry then with thinner, Roll and tip the final coat people say it is as nice as gelcoat I tend to differ but it great for a work Skiff.

Painting The 22 Skiff

Well good evening here are a few days put into one. The firts photos are of the primed Hull after sanding her with 220 grit. Then notice i get the corners and edges with the brush before starting the rolling and tipping. these are of the 1st coat of Pettit Easypoxy Jade Green

Lady Bug 22

Good evening well here is what i did today getting closer to the final finish. As you can see from the photos the bottom is painted and i have filled the minor imperfections with putty. I will sand this and the grey and make ready for the Easypoxy undercoater whit this is like a talc and the more you put on the smoother the final finish will look. I do 2 coats and it looks great. Still trying to pick a model name for the 22 skiff so far I like NAHANT 22 or PILGRIM 22 any suggestions? This skiff is going to be Jade Green with White Boot and Black Rail. Hope you are enjoying this.
